This post has two functions.
At first, it is a protest against the daily and usually hidden promotions of a Command and Control culture.
Secondly, this example helps current and new readers of my book, This Is How The State Fucks Your Mind, to identify the usually hidden Static rules in our Western society that has the formal name Platonism.
Platonism has for almost two thousand years ruled the West and is today the official worldview as the national States of the West guarantees the promoters of Platonism, the Academic tradition, a monopoly of what is said to be Science and Education.
The core of Platonism is to fool the people that they can only accept how it is and to obey as any other alternative is mystical and a threat to the existing Static rule of Platonism.
As Platonism was made to practical method by the Church is the core of the false Education and false Science provided by schools and universities today based on usually hidden dogmas of the Church.
Oversight of this Example
As to create must be mystical in Platonism is it easy in today’s society, that is based on Platonism, to fend off any attempts to create or to break free from the predefined Static rules that is the official perspective of life and the world; below a thin surface of the so called Freedom.
In this example is attempts to formulate and openly use methods to create ridiculed and trashed in order to defend the usually hidden ideals of Platonism; that the people must be restricted to accept how it is and to obey.
To Not Be Restricted by Static Rules Becomes the Same as Discrimination
This post is a nice lesson of how to make usually efficient propaganda by to strengthen the established Static perspective by to ridicule a Dynamic perspective.
The example demonstrates how to not be restricted by Static rules becomes the same as Discrimination in the form of Ageism.
Business Matters, BBC, sent Lucy Kellaway's commentary Is Silicon Valley ageist?, produced by the Financial Times, 13 December 2016.
And finally - do not age. Because to age is a sin. You will be criticized and vilified - and definitely not played on the radio." Now you'd think that a place like Silicon Valley in California - home to the likes of Google, Facebook and Apple - would be progressive ... beyond all that. But Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times says what started out as a youthful vibe has indeed become outright ageism - an environment specifically designed to discriminate against the older worker.
Also as podcast, 12 December 2016.
The same message as text Silicon Valley’s corporate culture is ageist, Lucy Kellaway, Financial Times, 30 October 2016.
If locked out try via search: "Silicon Valley’s corporate culture is ageist, Lucy Kellaway, Financial Times"
The introduction is:
Faddish organisational trends that shut out older workers are in danger of spreadingThe Podcast by Financial Times, Silicon Valley’s corporate culture is ageist, 1 November 2106 is promoted by the same words.
Lucy Kellaway usually expose hypocrisies with flair and precision.
But, here is the murky ideals in the open. Ideals that I don't think that Kellaway or many others are aware of. The Static ideals just exist and is taken for given to be the same as Wisdom or Science.
Kellaway refers to the book The Conversational Firm: Rethinking Bureaucracy in the Age of Social Media by Catherine Turco, see A look inside a “conversational firm”, Kara Baskin, 1 September 2016.
Turco's book is an investigation of the ever fresh problem, in the current Western culture; how to solve problems or to create solutions as these activities cannot be done within a Hierarchic structure or by Command and Control.
Moreover refers Kellaway probably and en passant to the popular article Is Silicon Valley Ageist Or Just Smart?, Steven Kotler, Forbes, 14 February 2015.
To make the new is, per definition, against a Static structure that is made to preserve what is already established.
The solid mess is then made by the promoters of a strict Command and Control Culture, when they are able to brand efforts to get outside of their ideal; Discrimination. Perfect! Almost.
Kellaway makes this trick by to describe the process that is used to find new perspectives and solutions called hack nights in this way.
The podcast version.
… All the employees love hack night. But then they would because the medium age of their 600 staff is 26. I view a evening like this with unmitigated horror. I am at least two decades too old for it. The company call it controlled chaos. But, I am anti chaos of any sorts; on the grounds if it is chaotic and therefore a less efficient way of organising than something more structured. …
The text version.
… At TechCo, they love Hack Night. But they would, because the median age of their 600 staff is 26. I view an evening like this with unmitigated horror. Not because I think it couldn’t work, or that no fruitful discussion could ever result. It simply would not work with me as a part of it as I am at least two decades too old for it. TechCo calls it “controlled chaos”, but I am anti-chaos of any sort, on the grounds that it is chaotic and therefore a less efficient way of organising than something more structured. …
No, Financial Times, BBC and Kellaway it is not about age. It is all about; to create anything, like structures, is NOT the same as to follow or obey already established structures.
Of course, it is honourable to criticise any form of discrimination. But, here is the concept discrimination used to knock out efforts to create the new.
That a younger generation is attracted to organisations that try to get away from a culture of total obedience, total fear and total angst is somewhat obvious.
Take note, this is not about the usual generation gap.
Today we live in a culture gap between the foolishness of Platonism and a Western world without hidden, Static and religious dogmas.
Our problem today is that the hierarchic structure of our Western society – defended and promoted by the massmedia – denies us to openly talk about the Dynamic process to create; as it is against the usually hidden dogmas of the Church presented as Reason and Science by the Academic cult.
Remember, we are today stuck in the stupidity that the god of the Church is the only allowed creator. And we are supposed to not even talk about this tyranny (This is the main theme in my book This Is How The State Fucks Your Mind).
In practice it is simply so that the current Western culture force you to Frustration, Shame, Guilt and Angst if you do not accept how it is and obey.
And on top of it all; as we are not allowed to openly talk about this stupidity. The effect, is accordingly; even deeper Frustration, Shame, Guilt and Angst.
Short about Contemporary Movements
Contemporary movements to break away from the established Static culture is, for example called Hacker culture and Maker culture.
For example, Chi Hack Night is promoted to be "Chicago's weekly event to build, share & learn about civic tech”.
And even more provocative in the Static Western culture is FailCon's message: "Stop being afraid of failure and start embracing it.".
Final Words
Financial Times, BBC and Kellaway, even if you are not brave enough to confront hidden religious ideals that suppress the people; at least don't make it worse.
It is a terrifying sign of that, we still live in the dark ages when the ideals of Command and Control that in practice is the same as Dictatorship are openly promoted by two extremely powerful media organisations like the Financial Times and BBC.
Please, stop your propaganda to enforce all forms of Dictatorship; at once!
It is really scary.
Furthermore, BBC is a trustworthy source of to praise Dictatorship and absolute submission of the people in the name of Science. See, for example the links at the end of this my post.
The current culture of the West is based on that you can only be an obedient soldier as anything else is made mystical, 13 September 2016.
Not only is anything else made mystical, if you are "too effective" in exposing the sham, you are likely censored on social media. As far as I can tell, my last two Tweets to the Twitter hashtag #hyperdialog does not get listed under that tag.
ReplyDeleteStrange. Now that I mentioned that the last Tweet wasn't shown on the hashtag, just because of that, it was. After I mentioned it. But the next last tweet I did to the hashtag still isn't. Wonder if it will also be shown now that I have mentioned it. :)
